In the area of powder metallurgy, or more specifically within powder compaction, there are international and nationalstandards and even company standards for the specification of sintered materials.
Among national standards particularly the German DIN 30910 and to a lesser extent the Swedish (SIS) and French (NF) standards have been predominant in Europe.
However, the appearance of an applicable ISO standard, ISO 5755, will probably result in national standards slowly losing their importance.
The use of company standards or company names for sintered materials is widespread, but in general unnecessary and/or undesirable, and should be as far as possible avoided..
